Truth vs. Facts: What’s important vs. what’s happening

There’s a huge difference between fact and truth. Fact is the economy’s in a very long downturn. Truth is, you’ve got big plans and big vision. Don’t let the truth get buried under the facts. Facts change. Truth is timeless.

The frustration of an economic valley: I’ve read so many articles, blogs, Tweets and commentaries about the perils of the economy we’re in. In fact, we stopped running CNN and other news stations on our reception area’s flat panels at our studios, replacing the depressing news reports with uplifting videos and fun TV stations like travel channel and others that expand our team (and clients) thinking, raise our hopes, and cast vision for things, people and places we’d love to have, meet and go to visit.

I’m not saying be unrealistic: I am saying that the news (which got its name from the “North/East/West/South” acronym) is what’s all around you, not what’s in you.

The opportunity of an economic valley: Slow times give you an unprecedented opportunity to stop, think, and breathe. To pour into significant projects, clients and causes you are passionate about, that really matter anyway. And, to ask yourself what you allow yourself, and your team, to see/hear every day. From your office TV/audio to your atmosphere, consider re-focusing on the things YOU believe are important, not the noise, depression and stuff you already know that the media needs to report is happening.

Here’s a GREAT example of a company who has continued to stay, ironically, very focused on a very limited product offering, and they seem to be weathering the storm better than their adversaries as they have grown market share over the last few years at an astronomical rate.
